Hola Familia,
CUTLER!! Mom and Dad have both been telling me about H2O polo! 7 goals and 2 assists against Ramona?!?!?! YOU´RE OWNING!!! Keep up the great work CJ!!! Thats awesome! I wish I was that good! Keep it up!
Spencer- How´d midterms go? No doubt you´ve been out and about hiking camping and what not... Send me some pictures bro!!!! Love ya!
So as for my week... it was a bit crazy. We met a lady named Juana who is an alcoholic. She was baptized at 20 but she went inactive shortly after and she is in pretty bad shape. She drinks every day in the morning and her life doesn´t look that fun. She told us that she wants to change because the day before she met us she tried to kill her baby.... so we are trying to help there but when we pass by and she is drunk she won´t see us so it’s a difficult situation.
We had an investigator named Mario who has a problem with pornography. We taught him the Law of Chastity. He wants to change and stop the pornography but he wouldn´t get rid of the stuff he had. We told him to give it to us so that we could destroy it. He didn´t want to. We told him that if he didn´t get rid of it now than he wouldn´t get rid of it on his own. We were pretty persistent and we ended up going through all his DVDs and taking all the bad ones and destroying them. It was definitely one of the strangest things I´ve done! But there were complications with him so we can´t go visit him anymore.
I don´t know if you remember but the family (Ronal) who went to conference, we had a lesson with them this last week. He really likes the lessons and we have a couple in the ward that are the fellow-shippers for them that go to every lesson with us. The husband, Christopher, is the ward mission leader and served his mission in LA and his wife, Yoseline, served a mission in Colombia. They are studs! So great! But we had a lesson with Ronal and he accepted a baptismal date. He still is reading and praying about the Book of Mormon to find out if it is true but if he gets an answer he is going to be baptized on the 12 of November. His wife is going to read and pray too. They are super awesome, their family is great! They gave us some Salmon the other night after a lesson which was sweet! It was really tasty!
Jose is doing awesome!! He is the greatest. He has been to church 2 times now and he absolutely LOVES it! He loves the people, everything that hes learning and whats best is, he actually understands it all!!! We will leave him folletos (pamphlets) of what we are going to talk about the coming week an he will read them like 2 or 3 times and then do the extra study pages at the back of the pamphlet to learn more. He literally teaches us! It’s so cool. He sincerely wants to learn so that he will be able to apply the teachings to his life and change! Hes going to be baptized the 5 of November and he is SUPER excited about it. We might even move his fecha (date) up to the end of October.
We had a milagro (Miracle) this week. We were walking on the street trying to find an old investigator when I felt someone tapping on my back. I turned around and had to look down because it was a little girl (12 years old but she´s short). She asked me if we were the missionaries. I was like yep for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She got a smile and was like ¨I want to be baptized!!!´ I was like ¨What!???!?!! I must have heard her wrong! she told me that she had been going to church in another ward with her brother who doesn´t live with her who is a member. She was taking the missionary discussions from the missionaries in that ward but they told her that she couldn´t get baptized there because it wasn´t her ward. But she found us and wants to get baptized! Later that afternoon we went to her house, met her mom (who is completely fine with everything just as long as Nicole knows what she’s getting into... the lessons!) and Nicole went to mutual that night!!! She is really a miracle.
The Lord really does prepare people to hear the gospel.
But this weekend was awesome! We had the 50 years of missionary work in Chile celebration! It was awesome! The celebration was on Saturday and it started at like 7 but we got there around 6. It was in a big fútbol stadium about 45 minutes from where I live. There were all the missionaries from the Santiago North, East and West missions and half of the missionaries from the Viña del Mar mission. There were so many missionaries! And the stadium was packed! Elder Corbridge, the area president, presided and gave a good but long talk. He is somewhat dry when he talks. It was funny to look around the stands at all the people because they were all obviously bored. But they but on a huge show to honor the missionary work! There were 3,000 people (mostly youth) that performed that night! It was crazy! They basically has a skit on this big stage they made at one end of the stands with a family that was talking about the Book of Mormon then the Cultures there in Chile and then the Restoration and Missionary work. The performers did dances for different stories in the Book of Mormon and then like all these different cultural dances from like Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico and Chile. It was sweet!!!! There were so many people there! And at the end all the missionaries sang I’ll go where you want me to go¨ (is that what its called in English?). It was really special, really cool.
But it
was pretty crazy! I was able to see like 6 people that I knew from
the MTC, one of whom was in my district. He is in Viña. I also saw Alex
Leavitte! It was sweet! He is doing super, really enjoying his mission and he is training now. He only has 8 months left! hes almost home!
First
off some things I realized that if forgot to write the last week. SPENCER, send
me a picture of you pack!! It sounds sweeeet, Dad told me about it too! I hope
you get to use it a bunch. We never went camping the four of us so that is
going to have to be one of the first things that we do when I get back.
Lindy,
your class sounds a little bit crazy! I hope you can get it under control! I
laughed out loud with your story about the ADHD kid, I could definitely imagine
you in the story. I want to see pictures of your
classroom, especially after Mom goes to help with the Halloween theme! You´d
be the BEST teacher!!! Keep working hard, no doubt the kids love you and
you´re making a difference in their lives. And I think you should do that
BYU second master’s program if you can find the time! I made some manjar no
bake cookies that turned out pretty good, I thought you´d be proud. =)CUTLER!! Mom and Dad have both been telling me about H2O polo! 7 goals and 2 assists against Ramona?!?!?! YOU´RE OWNING!!! Keep up the great work CJ!!! Thats awesome! I wish I was that good! Keep it up!

But the
craziest thing happened! I was absolutely FLIPPING OUT. We had a practice there
in the stadium Friday. There were all the missionaries there running around all
excited because they were able to see all their friends and what not. Well for
some reason my really good friend Maggie Fabrizio popped into my head. I knew
that she was on a mission but I didn´t know where. I was walking down in front
of everyone AND SHE YELLED MY NAME!!!! SHE
WAS THERE!!! She is serving in the East mission! And she was there!! I freaked out because literally like an hour
before I saw her that same day I was thinking about her. IT WAS NUTS! I´m not sure how it happened but it was so
awesome to see one of my really good friends. Something I needed, just someone
to talk to and enjoy her company. It was definitely a tender mercy, miracle,
and STRANGE! But so cool!!!
Well I’m
going to stop now so that I can hopefully get off some pictures of
the celebration and what not. I just
want you to all know that I love and
miss you! Keep up the good work in everything you do, you are all great.
Les amo.
