La Semana

Date: January 09, 2012 Area: Santiago, Chile Companion: Elder Lopez

Hola Familia,

As for me.. things are pretty slow here in Corona Sueca. We haven´t found any really good people to teach recently so we are working to find new investigators. Right now is the summer and school is in vacation so there are a ton of people that leave Santiago for the vacation months. Kind of interesting! There are pools (tiny ones that fit on the porch in front of the houses) that almost every house has and it makes me really want to go swimming!!! The ward here isn´t the strongest so we have been working with Christopher to create a ward mission plan and hopefully change the attitude of the ward starting with the bishopric. We are hoping to make some big changes.

One crazy thing that happened this week (and I´ll try to take some pictures this week to send them next week) but I was sitting talking to Hermana Gomez, my mamita, and a random thought popped into my head about Chris McMullin because he served in Santiago North like 10 years ago. But I asked hermana Gomez if she had ever met him and she had! And remembers him! She even pulled out some pictures of him from when he was here! I was like ¨NO WAY!!!¨ It was crazy! She told me that he always teased her daughter Jordanka haha. And Christopher´s wife, Yoseline Figueroa, remembered him too from when he was here. She really liked him too. She says that he is a muy buena onda. Hes a fun guy basically. So let him know that the members here in Corona Sueca still remember him 10 years later!

President Essig made some really big changes this last week to the mission. He made two new zones and now we don´t have a zone conference every week but only a district meeting. He has restrictions on all of the cell phones so that we can only call the leaders of the mission so that we can´t communicate with other elders in the mission. I guess there was a lot of problems in the mission with gossiping. Also now we can´t play sports with the other elders except for one time every cambio (change) so thats a big bummer too!

But yeah, not too much has been going on with me. I´m doing well, hanging in there and it sounds like you all are as well. I love you all!

Elder Holland

P.S. Elder Lopez got his Bible stolen last transfer (before he was with me) so we got permission to go to the distribution center and get another one. The center is right next to the Temple so we walked around the temple while we were there too! here are the pictures.
