Hola Familia!
Como estan todos? I´m
hoping that everyone is doing well! This week was a pretty great one. Well I´ll
just jump to the big news. Nelson got baptized yesterday! It was great. He is a
really great kid and I´ve been fortunate enough to be able to teach him and help
him get ready for baptism. He actually found us which was cool. We were riding
in the street and he stopped us and told us to pass by. He had met with
missionaries twice before us but I guess this time he was ready and finally made
the jump. He´s only 11 but hes probably the best investigator that I´ve had.
Every time we left something for him to read, without fail the next day he had
done it. He´s been really committed to everything. When we would pass by his
house in the morning to go to church with him he would always be ready and
waiting for us which is awesome, especially because hes only 11! But he has a
great friend in church which makes a huge difference. When we introdced Nelson
to his friend, Sebastian, the first day Nelson came to church, Seba took him on
a tour right away of the church and sat with him during the sacrament meeting
and took him to the classes. They´ve hung out a few times outside of church too
so its great to know that Nelson has a great friend in chruch that can help him
answer any questions that he might have. But Nelson was actually planning on
getting baptized the 10th of June but we passed by his house last week and were
talking to him about his baptism and he told us that he was really nervous. We
asked him why and he told us that he was nervous because he was worried about
getting sick and not being able to get baptized on the 10th. We were like, What?
haha. So we told him that if he really wanted to he could get baptized this
Sunday the 3rd instead and he said, yeah!
So we were passing by
everyday to Nelson this week and lo and behold he did get sick. He didn´t go to
school a single day this week. But he wasn´t so sick that he couldnt do anything
so we were ok for Sunday. We passed by Saturday and nobody was home so we got a
little bit worried about that but we just left him a note and said that we´d
pass by on Sunday in the morning and everything would be good. We woke up Sunday
mornign and called his mom to see if he was ready but she said that he was sick
with a fever and didn´t feel well at all. Then we got worried. We told her that
we were going to pass by anyway and see him and go to church together. But when
we got there he was all ready, once again to go to church! He told his mom that
it didn´t matter that he was sick cause he wanted to go to church to get
baptized! He is such a great kid. He didn´t feel great on the way to church but
while we were there he felt fine and was able to be baptized without any
problems. He is a great kid and I´m so excited that he was baptized!
But that was
definitely the highlight of the week. Today we are going to go to some huge
outlet malls because one of our roommates, Elder Jones, goes home in two weeks
and he wants to buy some stuff.
Anyway, until next
week. Love you lots!
Elder Jaromy Holland
