Baptismo!

Date: November 15, 2011 Area: Santiago, Chile Companion: Elder Metcalf

Hey Family,

This was a pretty good week! We had a baptism yesterday!!!! Jose Molina was baptized yesterday! It was great! He is so awesome, he is definitely ready to be a faithful member for the rest of his life! The baptism was right after church and it was definitely hectic! there were the members running around everywhere, we were trying to get all the people who were going to participate in the program to get together and basically it was just crazy. I was told that every baptism is that way but we´ll see. It was really special for him though because his sister and brother in law were able to come and support him there. They are members too but where they live there isnt a church so they haven´t been in a long time. But my friend, the ward mission leader that has texted you before, (Christopher) baptized him. It was really good. And about 40 members or so I would say stayed around for the program which was really goodto have that support from the ward.

But today has been really crazy. There are cambios (changes) on the 20th of this month, next week. But last night after Elder Metcalf and I got back to the appartment President Essig called us. He said that we were going to have special changes and that Elder Metcalf would be the new mission secretary in the office! We got the call at 10:30 last night and then left the house at 8:30 this morning. So he went to the office and now I am in a different sector called La Estrella Sur. It is right below my old sector. I´m here for a week with two other missionaries, so we are a trio. I´ll be working with them here and in my old sector for the week until changes next Sunday and then I´ll be (probably) put back in Corona Sueca, where I was before, with a new companion. so this week is going to be a bit crazy but it should be good! The new elders that I´m with are Elder Memmott from northern California and Elder Lemo from Argentina. They are both great so it should be a good week.

This week we started teaching a new investigator, one of our neighbors. He is super! He lives just a few houses down and he is there all the time to be able to meet which is good. He is 20 years old and he had an accident just a few weeks ago. He was working in a factory or something and i´m not exactly sure how but a rod or something punctured him in his stomach and kind of destroyed everything so he had reconstructive surgery and he has to stay in the house now. He has a huge incision going down his stomach, its crazy. But he has met with the missionaries in the past and he really likes the church so I think he is going to get baptized once he is healed a bit more.

We have had a tough time finding Nicole, the little girl investigator. Her Mom got into a fight with her step dad and kicked him out of the house, he was abusive. So that is good that he is gone but that made things with them much more complicated and they have been leaving the house a lot so we haven´t had much time to talk with her and teach her but once we do, she is definitely going to be baptized!

Sorry for the boring letter, I hopefully will have a better one next week. But I love and miss you guys and I can´t wait to be able to talk to you guys at Christmas. I really want to Skype. If I stay in Corona Sueca for another transfer then I´ll definitely be able to skype because I´ll be able to use Christopher´s computer. He has a mac. So If I stay then I´ll give him your information to get it all set up early in December so that when Christmas comes, there aren´t any problems. I love you!
