Merry Christmas

Date: December 26, 2011 Area: Santiago, Chile Companion: Elder Lopez

Hola Familia!

It was so great to talk to you yesterday! Man was it fuN! Undoubtedly the best present I could have had! Everyone looks like they are doing well and it was almost like I was there with you guys for a short time. Did you make it to church?=) Judging by the pictures that Mom sent me it looks like you had a good time yesterday too!

Just a quick recap on the week... The beginning of the week went by really fast but not too much happened. We did intercambios (exchanges) on tuesday to wednesday and I went to another sector with Elder Perez. He is from Corona California and he got here in the same group that I did. He is great, supper relaxed and fun to be around so we had fun together. We changed back on Wednesday and then on Thursday Elder Perez and Elder Chung (He is the district leader and from Peru) came here to Corona Sueca to to the baptismal interview for Nicole because she was going to get baptized this weekend. But Nicole wasn´t there when we passed by so we weren´t able to do the interview and we ended up doing exchanges again. I was with Elder Chung until Friday right before the activity we had in the Mission home.

The activity was really great! We were able to see a bunch of the mission (about half of the missionaries were there) and I got to see some of my friends that were in my zone before but have moved to other zones which was cool. I also saw my trainer Elder Metcalf and he wishes everyone a Merry Christmas! We sang christmas songs as a group in the subway station and then went to the mission home and had a fancy dinner which was super good! Then there was a really great christmas musical program by all the missionaries and Hermana Essig conducted which was cool.

Christmas Eve we spent mostly with our mamita, Hermana Gomez and her family. It was really really great. She gave each of us a tie and a belt which is perfect because my other belt is breaking. We helped make the dinner and we made Patacones, the ecuadorian fried bananas. I¨m sure you can find more about them on the internet but I´ll send you a picture. There was so much food there and we didn´t even put a dent in it. I don´t know that I´ve seen so much meat in someone´s house before either... it was massive!! And Delicious!!! We were there until midnight and then we had to go home and then when we got home we opened our packages and made a couple of videos, I¨ll try to send them =)

And then Christmas Day was just relaxing, I was super excited to talk to you guys and before I was SUPER nervous! I don´t know why but I was super nervous and Was kind of scared haha but it was really great to be able to talk to all of you! I spent the rest of the day with Christopher and then went to another members house at the end of the day to help her with a talk that she is going to give next week. But overall it was a great Christmas! Much better than I was expecting! And I did the count and its only 4 months until I talk to you again! But I kind of wish that it was more because the time between that call and the next is going to be 8 Months and thats a long time!

But yeah, that was pretty much the week until now. Mom, I loved those Christmas stories that you sent me too, they were great. I loved the one about the boy who got his hearing back and also the one about the symbols of christmas! My favorites =)

I´m going to send some pictures from the weekend! Talk to you next week, Love you!

Elder Holland
