Week 3! Part II

Date: July 21, 2011 Area: Provo MTC Companion: Elder Eves
Hola Familia!

How is everyone? From all your letters it sounds like you are all doing pretty well! I liked lindy's idea to kind of answer your letters in the email cause that’s a lot easier.. so that’s what I'm going to do.

Dad- It was fun talking to you yesterday! I just felt bad cause I didn't want to talk for too long cause I knew I wasn't supposed to call=) I just asked the lady to give you a call to get the insurance number from you and she was like, "why don't you talk to him, there are usually other questions that need answering so it’s easier if you talk" so I was like "ok". Haha. It was weird talking though cause in some ways it seems like I have been away for an incredibly long time and then in others it seems like I just left. It’s really strange. The house sounds good! I thought the backyard looked pretty good when I left but I guess Mom thought differently? Send me some pictures! And flight school again? Nice. Get certified this time! =) then I'll have to do it when I get back. I can't let you guys be the only ones with the certification! Great job on Zerorez last month! Sounds like things are picking up which is great!!

Mom- Thanks for the Whitaker's address! I'll send them a letter today. And thanks for the caramel and shoes. I gave a bag to Alec and then shared the others. My friend Matt (from Virginia) loved them! They were his favorite when you sent me some at school so he was definitely happy about them =) that’s too bad about sister Rector's baby! But I have only ever seen her happy so I'm sure she will find something to help her pull through. I tried to send some pictures in the e-mail but it won't let me upload them so i'll have to print them out and send them in the mail. I'll try to do that for next week! The reunion will be fun in a couple years! It will be great to see everyone all together after so long. And thanks for the program from grandpa's funeral, Alec liked it. I see him all the time by the way, he is in my branch and lives on my floor. His class is only a few doors down from mine and we have the same schedule every day so we literally see each other all the time. I think I've seen him more in our time here at the MTC than I have in all of my life! And... CONGRATULATIONS on your listing! That’s AWESOME!! It’s always great to have more of those =) I'm sure you'll get it sold quickly, you're great at that!

Cutler- Thanks for the letter! You've got one in the mail that should get there in a few days.

Lindy- Thanks so much for the poppyseed bread! I think that was the favorite of my district so far. They all say thank you so much and that you are the best (eso es verdad!). It was absolutely delicious! When I got it, it was still warm too!! Thank you thank you. It was gone that evening! Don't worry about sending letters, I love getting them and there is always enough time at night to read them. I just don't want you to spend too much time on writing me. I don't mind the Spanish lisp, it’s just a cultural thing and so I think it would be cool to be able to speak like a Chilean or Spaniard whenever I wanted=) I can't believe the Japanese womens team beat the US's. thats surprising to me! And HOLY COW, your classroom sounds SWEET!!! I wish I could be there to hear the kid’s gasps and see their faces as they walk into the room on the first day, they are going to go nuts! And the plan for the first day sounds great! the kids will love it. I always liked doing fun stuff on the first day. Don't worry about the shoe shine or anything, I can get some at the bookstore here on the MTC campus. They give us money every week for that stuff=)

Spencer- Sounds like work is picking up which is good! Getting some good work in I hope! Save the $$=) How have you been? What are your plans for the fall now? Dear Elder me! And go to Harry Potter for me and let me know how it is.

As for my week... It wasn't really anything special. We just kind of get into our routine here and the days seem really long but then all of a sudden its the next day and then you're like "wait a second, wasn't yesterday p-day?" So time is definitely something weird. This last week my friend Andrew left for New York and this next week both Nick Sharapata and Evan Christensen are going to be off to their missions. (Argentina and Mexico). They live on my floor so that is going to be different not having them around. Also this week two people from my district left for the Guatemalan MTC so we lost two but they put another sister in my district so we have 11 total now. The new sister is a little needy but she is nice and she tries to do the right things. Some of the people in my district are a little annoyed by here but I'm trying to look past that and see her for who she really is, a daughter of God who, like me, has decided to give up some of her time to the Lord and to bring others unto Christ. So I'm trying to be inclusive and we'll see how things go.

With so many people leaving it just makes me want to get out of here and head down to Chile! But I know that there is still a ton of stuff that I have to learn here. We have been practicing teaching the lessons from PMG lately and it’s kind of fun. Its hard cause there is so much information and it’s important to ask questions and get a good feel for the needs of the investigator but it’s fun to teach the gospel and learn more about it cause I know it’s true. We had an Emeritus 70 speak Tuesday night and he just gave a wonderful talk/ testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and the power that it holds. And he is absolutely true, the Book of Mormon is really powerful and reading it every day gives me strength. I know this church is true and I'm so excited to go down to Chile and teach the people down there! Only 6 more weeks!!

Con Amor,
Elder Holland
