Hey
Family,
I can´t believe that
Spencer is already in the MTC! Thats CRAZY! I am so happy and excited for you.
The first few days in the MTC are eternal but then after the time flies. And
more for you because you are going to be there such a short time. 10 days is
nothing! And look at you, you are the ZONE LEADER! =) Congratulations =) you´ll
do great. And lucky for you, you won´t be there for too long. Just live it up
while you are there and soak in the spirit, its a cool place. I always looked
forward to the devotionals that they have all the time.
Lindy, it sounds like
you are doing great there! I can´t believe that you are really going to take the
Spain trip... you can´t do those things without me! Its not fair. And that is
amazing that you found sister Marmol walking around there in Temple Square! That
is a cool experience that you and Mom had praying and then right afterwards
finding her. Now you will have to find her parents there in Cartegena. I just
looked up Cartegena in google maps (from lds.org=)
and I still remember like it was yesterday when we were living there in Spain.
I´d like to return one day, con mayor razon que ahora you hablo español.
As for the trip to
Los Andes, it was GREAT!! It was so much fun. It was cool to finally leave
Santiago for a little while, there was a great peace there in the small town. We
went and we climbed a hill with the Virgin Maria on top and from there we were
able to see all the city. It was cool and we got back and everything went right
back to normal.
This week was
probably the slowest week that I have had in a LONG time! It was a very strange
week. We got back from los andes and worked normal Monday night and then we woke
up on Tuesday morning at 730 and at 732 Presidente Essig calls us and wanted to
talk to Elder Perez. (I have to make the stories from this week short because
there are lots of them) He told him that he had special changes and that he
would be leaving the sector at 6 that day to go replace another elder that went
to the Island of Easter. So we had district class that morning and then after we
spent the afternoon saying goodbye to people and then the office came and got
him that afternoon. I was really sad and from that moment on the week started to
go by SUPER slow. I felt strange the entire week and I think that it was more
because I was nervous for the changes that were coming (today) than anything
else.
So the week crawled
by and Saturday arrived. And we had a trip planned to go to the temple and to do
a tour. We were supposed to meet at the church with the investigators and the
recent converts at 3 to make it up there by 4 for the tour and then get back
home at like 530 or so.. .well none of those things happened. The few that
arrived, because the great majority bailed on us, arrived late and then it took
us a LONG time to get there because of traffic and the bus was delayed.. we got
there at like 515 and did the tour which was great, there is always great peace
(which was perfect because I was really stressing out about being so late and
because everyone bailed and for the changes) but the tour was great and we
finished and took some pictures and then went home. The bus was delayed again,
another half hour, and we got back to the sector at like 745 or so!
But then Saturday
night we get back to the appartment and this is the biggest surprise of them
all! President Essig called me. He said hello. I told him hi and asked him how
he was doing. he said he was fine and then said the craziest words that I am
sure have ever left his mouth. He asked me if starting Monday, if I would be
willing to serve as his new ASSISTANT. yeah. I know. I was a bit surprised and
stammered a yeah and then I heared sister Essig laugh in the background because
I am pretty sure that my ¨Yeah¨ wasn´t too confident or enthusiastic haha. But
yeah, that is the great surprise for the week. I am currently sitting in the
office writing you and am one of the Assistants to President Essig. He told me
that the assistants serve for 2 changes and he reminded me that I only have 2
changes left so he proceded to explain that that means that I will end my
mission in the office as assistant. I said ok and he hung up haha. But yeah, I
feel really strange right now. Its like a mix of emotions. I´m nervous, scared,
happy, excited, and a handful of other feelings. I Don´t know what to feel
really. But I know that it will be ok because I know that if President Essig
called me it means that the Lord wants me to be here.
So Sunday I knew that
I had to say goodbye to everyone and it wasn´t a really fun experience. I don´t
like having to saygoodbye. I spoke in Sacrament meeting which was fun. Then in
the afternoon we had Natalia´s baptism which was AWESOME! It was seriously
incredible. Patricio, her husband that was just baptized 2 weeks ago got the
priesthood yesterday and was able to baptize her yesterday. I made them and
Maria the promise that if in one year from now they go through the temple I will
come back to go with them. It was really a bummer to say goodbye to them but I
knew that the moment was going to come sometime.
But anyway that was
my week. Thats all the time that I have this week but I basically my mission is
over now because we hardly don`t have time to get out and proselite because we
are always so busy and there is so much to do. Basically I am not going to sleep
very much for the next 3 months. But the time is going to fly. Its a SPRINT to
the FINISH!
I love you all. The
church is true!
