Area: Santiago, Chile
Companion: Elder Deming
Hey
Family,
Congrats spencer on
your farewell talk, I haven´t had time today to listen to it but I am going to
download it to my mp3 so that I can listen to it during the week.
As for me here, there
were changes this week. I knew that the two sectors that we have here in the
ward were going to be unified, that was a given but I didn´t know exactly who
was going to stay and what was going to happen. But it turns out that Elder
Deming and Elder Perez´s companions left the sector. Elder Deming went with
Elder Patterson who was living here in Principal with me for 2 changes. I was
pretty bummed about that because Elder Deming and I got along well and he es
reallly great but what saved the changes is that my new companion is Elder
Perez!!! Haha. its crazy. I thought that one of the possiblities was that Elder
Deming and Elder Perez and I would all stay together juntos but now we are just
two. But its ok, Elder Perez is great, we are going to have a blast and time is
going to fly by! This change is a short one, its only 4 weeks long and so it is
going to go by really really fast. But we are excited and are going to work
really hard so that its a great change.
Maria is doing GREAT.
She was confirmed yesterday and I had the privelege of confirming her=) I
haven´t ever confirmed anyone and so it was a neat experience being able to do
it for the first time. Her daughter, Stefi came but she came late. She came with
her two kids that are really little, 2 and 3, and with her brother who is 8 and
so it was kind of funny with them running around in the chapel and everything.
Apart from them a less active member and his wife (well not wife but pareja)
came and they have two little girls who were going crazy and then Elder Perez
had a family of investigators that came and they have a little kid too and all
of these people sat in the back and so it was kind of funny to see all these
kids going crazy=) it brought a little life to the sacrament meeting.
As for the
investigators, things are going really well. There should be a few people that
get baptized this change so we are going to be working closely with them.
Stefi, the daughter
of Maria is very good, I think that she should be baptized this change too.
Please pray for her. When I asked you all to pray for maria things went really
well so I am going to start making a list of people that need help and extra
prayers so that you all can help out please=) She needs to have her prayers
answered about the book of Mormon.
Andrea (the partner
of the Less active) is ok. We have trouble finding her to be able to teach her
but she made it to church which was great. She and Juan Jose have to get married
so that is the next step with them.
Last week we had a
really sucussful activity that maybe the missionaries there in the ward can try.
But we had a family home evening as a ward in the church last friday night. In
total we had a turn out of about 30 which was great. There were 6 investigators,
5 recent converts a handful of less actives and the members and us. It was
really fun. We had food, played pictionary in two teams so it was competitive
and then at the end we had a spiritual thought and we shared a couple mensajes
mormones. It was great and the majority of the people that went came to church
this Sunday too. It was a great way to get the members involved and working with
the investigators to build friendships in a non threatening way.
Oh, spencer. Talking
about mormon messages, make yourself a disk with as many of the mormon messages
that you can. Actually make yourself two so that you have a back up. It is going
to be VERY useful. They are short and powerful which is great for lessons and we
use them in lessons whenever we can. The problem is that in the mission its hard
to compile them all together because there is no time. I have a friend who is
going to do it for me and send me a copy. But do it while you can!
This week is going to
be a great week! Thanks for everything! I love you all!
Love,
Elder Holland
