Area: Santiago, Chile
Companion: Elder Lopez
Hey
Familia,
I liked the pictures
of the ski trip! But I only saw Lindy! It looked like you were already a pro
going down those slopes. =) I was thinkin about you last week like ¨man! My
familys skiing right now!!¨ haha. I hope it was fun and that you enjoyed the
break. I remember the first time that I went snowboarding with the young mens at
big bear in the slush, not snow - slush - and the next day I was so sore!! But
its so much fun. I want to go when I get back. But what was the highlight of
the trip?
Cutler, did you shred
up the mountain with Spencer? No doubt that you two raced... who won? Dad?
haha!!! i´m gonna beat him on the board and he´ll be on skis =P
This week was an
average one. Not great but not bad either. Its takes getting used to a new
companion each time you change is what I´ve decided. Elder Lopez and I really
got along well especially at the end of out time together so it was different
having to change and adjust to someone new. And I´m still not 100% used to
having to be with the same person 24/7 haha but I´m learning alot from it. But
its just different now cause last cambio we were both motivated to get stuff
done but my new companion isnt quite as motivated so i´ve got to take the
initiative in what we do, which is ok, but its just better when we both do
it.
But this week we had
a great lesson with Jose Figueroa. He is the one that got out of jail on a
Thursday and then went to church the following Sunday. But when Elder Lopez was
here we talked to him about the Plan of Salvation because his Mom died and all
he wants is to be able to see her again. We talked about how he can see her and
that he can live with her again. We also talked about baptism and how it is how
we can cleanse ourselves of our sins and a necessary step in this life but in
that lesson he didn´t accept a baptismal date. But this week we had a lesson and
read D&C 20:37 and the requirements for a baptism.and he really wants to get
baptized so he accepted a baptismal date. But he wants his grandma to be there
when he gets baptized and she is on vacation until the end of march and so he is
going to get baptized the 1 of April. I´m excited for him but I´m kinda bummed
because I won´t be here for his baptism. There are cambios the 25 of March and
I´m pretty certain that i´m going to be leaving. But he will be baptized which
is what is really important so I´m happy and excited.
Other than that there
isn´t much news going on here. My mamita, Hermana Gomez, is on vacation this
week so I won´t see her until next week. But its going to be hard to say goodbye
to her and the family and other people here in Corona Sueca. She told me that
the last week that Elder Lopez was here that she was in the Kitchen reading the
scriptures and praying. We were all pretty certain that I was going to be the
one to leave because I have more time here and she said that she was sad. She
said that she prayed to have strength so that when I left she be ok and wouldn´t
cry and that she felt a huge feeling of peace that it would be ok because I was
going to stay in this sector but that elder Lopez was going to go. She said that
when we called her the night of cambios she wasn´t surprised at all by the
changes because her prayer. Man, I love her and her family. Its going to be hard
to say goodbye but I really want all of you to meet her someday.
Ñemby is the ward of
my companion Elder Lezcano. You should see if Nathan knows of it. How is he
doing? They speak guarani there so I´d bet hes picking up a bit of a third
language though Elder Lezcano has talked in it a few times and it sounds pretty
tough to learn.
But have a great
week! I love you and enjoy the vacation!
Les amo
muchisimo!
Elder Jaromy Holland
