Hola Familia,
Lo siento for
sending the letter late. We had cambios this week and we got a huge group of new
missionaries, 33, and only 6 left and so it was a little rough for the president
I think and he changed our p-day and cambios from Monday to Tuesday. But as for
the cambios, they didn´t come until about 1 in the morning and... . i´m still
here in Corona Sueca with Elder Lopez! We didn´t change which I´m good with
because I love Corona Sueca and Elder Lopez is a great companion.
I like the idea
of Spencer working for Southwest, that would be great! He´s got Kim to help him
out there too which would be nice. So get a job there bro and then after the
mission you can fly me around the country!! =)=) jk, but really it sounds like a
great option!!!
I have
officially hit my 6 month mark!!!!! Time to me is strange now. Its like it is
going by fast and slow at the same time. Its hard to explain. The week goes by
fast but then I stop and think back on what we did and it seems like an eternity
has passed. Oh well, I guess i´d better get used to it is all haha!
This last week I got a letter from Charlie! I was super excited about that!! Its great to hear from him. And the Whitakers sent me a great package for Christmas with lots of CHOCOLATE!!!!! =) They are so great. Thank you, mom and dad Whitaker! Thanks mom for taking them the stuff I sent and for making them Fudge. I´m glad that you got to see them when you went over and that Charlie was there! I´m glad to hear that everythings going well for them!
Thanks for all
the pictures! It was so fun to look at all of them! When I logged on to the
email and saw how many eamails I had i said ¨holy cow!!¨ there were almost 50!!
Haha but I loved it, all the pictures! It was great. It sure looks like you all
had a wonderful time over the holidays! I´m glad that everyone enjoyed
themselves and had such a wonderful time. Only one more and then I´ll be back in
a blink of an eye. Then we´ll be down here for the Christmas of 2013! and I´ll
show you all chile, my friends and it´ll be a blast.
I also got a
Christmas package from Grandma Ruth this week! Thank you Grandma! I loved it! I
was thinking about you this week because I was at the home of a member who went
on a mission and she was talking about an elderly missionary sister that she was
companions with and I thought ¨I don´t know how on earth my grandma served a
mission! I have so much respect for her cause its tough work in the mission!¨ So
I don´t know how you did it Grandma, but way to go. I´m proud of you and thank
you for your example!
This week we did
have a huge let down! The baptism with Nicole fell through, which in the end was
a blessing but still a bummer. Remember me telling you that her step dad is
super lame (maybe I haven´t told you but he is). Hes basically a bum that likes
to party in the house all the time and has no motivation in life and isn´t
really going anywhere fast. But he is a terrible example and influence on Nicole
and put into her head that she shouldn´t get baptized and that we can´t give
blood (Jehova´s whitness) and all this other stuff. And Nicole for a while now
has wanted to get a piercing and she went and got one on her nose so now she
can´t be baptized for a while. Man was I bummed! She completely did a 180 on us.
Now she doesn´t even want to get baptized. In the end it is a good thing because
she would be inactive right now if she had gotten baptized so its better that
she didn´t but still a major bummer. Now I don´t even know if we are going to
be able to pass by to see her because she won´t even read or pray so we are
thinking we are going to have to drop her. Man, its a bummer but we are going to
have to see what is going to happen this week.
As for New
Years.. we just stayed in the house. We didn´t have to go in early so we were
home by 10 but it was good. New Years has to be my least favorite holiday
because everyone just gets drunk and its pretty lame: We didn´t teach at all
that day because nobody would let us in because they were all preparing for the
parties and BBQs that they were throwing. But Hermana Gomez had another huge
dinner like they had for Christmas, with even MORE meat, and since we couldn´t
eat with them her husband brought us a bunch of food after we got back to the
house! They are way too good to us! The only really funny tradition that they
have here in Chile for New Years is that at midnight everybody gives hugs and
kisses to everybody else! As in, everyone. Yoseline, Christopher´s wife, showed
me a video of last years new years and it was crazy and really funny! Everybody
runs around like ¨oh, have I huged you yet?¨ and they hug and give besos. its
pretty funny.
But yeah, that
is about it for the week. It was pretty slow because of the holidays this week.
But thanks for all the photos, love and support! I didn´t take any pictures this
week so I don´t have any to send. But I´ll talk in less than a week now, on
Monday! Love ya,
Love
Elder Holland
