Fiestas

Date: September 20, 2012
Area: Santiago, Chile
Companion: Elder Barnes

Hola Familia!

I have very little time to write so it will be short but thank you all for the letters! I got your blessing spencer and i{m going to read it during the week. Mom good luck with your teeth. Dad keep up the good work with everything. Lindy you look and it sounds like you are having fun- me alegra muchisimo! Cutler put the nose to the grindstone (as dad would say (That always bugged me =)=)=)=) and keep rockin the pool- youre the man!

But this week was a great week. It was a little bit slow because of all the fiestas that everyone does with the Independence day but it was good. On Saturday there was a big activity in the Stake Center that was awesome. There were some games and contests and I won one with a sister from my ward. But then there was a show after with traditional Chilean dances that all the wards did and my ward ROCKED the show! They were the BEST! It was awesome. All the missionaries were there and it was so much fun!

Sunday was great because Olga Aries (the dominicana) was baptized! It was such a great experience. She is the best. She has been SO prepared and I know that Heavenly Father led us to her. I was thinking about it the other day, because we met her in a street contact. And where she lives, we pass by all the time. But I had never seen Olga in the street before the contact or since then. There was the one chance. And if we hadn´t contacted her, then she wouldn´t have been baptized and wouldn´t have been able to receive this great blessing. So that thought really opened my eyes to how important it is to open our mouths. We have to talk with EVERYONE. If we don´t there are people that could have accepted the gospel that won´t get the chance to do so. But the baptism was great.

Then on Monday we had a ward activity that started at 9 and ended at 10. ALL day long! But it was fantastic! It was so much fun. We left the activity for a while and looked for an internet cafe to write home but EVERYTHING was closed! Everything has really been shut down since monday until today. They go crazy here, but its kind of cool. Apart from the alcohol I like the fiestas that they do and they have some great BBQs.

But I{m doing well, things have been a bit slow these past few days but they are goign to start picking up again here soon. Thanks for the prayers and letters and everything that you do for me. I love you all so much!

Love,

Elder Jaromy Holland
