One More Week

Date: February 13, 2013
Area: Santiago, Chile
Companion: Elder Deming

This week was a bit slow again, I`m not sure why but its been rather difficult recently to find some good investigators that we can keep visiting and that are going to progress. But we did have some good lessons. I know that this week is going to be better than last.

We did a special fast this week with Presidente Nuñez (he is the first councilor and ex stake presidente) and with the other Elders in our ward. It went really well and I know that the Lord is going to help us to find the people that he is preparing.

One of the cool things that happened this week is that, the other day Elder Deming and I bought some bread and juice cause it was hot and we were tired and we took our 20 minute break in the afternoon that we have to eat. Well we found a curb and sat down in the street to eat. A minute later a guy comes up to us and says ¨Hola Elderes¨ And we knew altiro, right away, that he was either a menos activo or somebody that had shared lots with the missionaries. I stood up and shook his hand and he told us that his name was Juan Jose. He is a returned missionary. He came back 3 years ago and is living here in Conchalí now. He lives with his girlfriend and has two kids but he wants to come back to the church. He was a really nice guy. When we met him he was headed off to work so we took his address and he went off to work.

We passed by a couple days later and met his ¨wife¨ Andrea. She is awesome and her first lesson she accepted a baptismal date for the 3rd of March. She is great. We haven`t been able to teach her again because her little baby got really sick and they had to take her to the hospital but we were able to teach Juan Jo de nuevo and it went really well. We had the lesson with the Family Nuñez (the strongest family here in Chile=) and they really helped lots in the lesson. We committed Juan Jo to talk to Andrea about marriage that night. He did and she said that she wants to get married! So this Friday they are going to go the Registro Civil (its the place you go to get a date for marriage) and they are going to get an hour and get married. I really feel that Andrea is prepared and with the help of Juan Jo and the Family Nuñez, she is going to progress really well. We are excited for her. She is prepared.

This week should be Maria`s baptism... we`ll see. I really am stumped at to what her hold up is. She has a testimony of ALL that we have shared, she knows that Baptism is essencial and that she needs to do it but she won`t take the step. She says that she has to clear something up between her and the Lord first but she is keeping it very close and won`t share with us what it is. She knows that one day she will be baptized and she wants to do it but the when is the question. So if you could all please keep her in her prayers this week and pray that whatever needs to happen so that she feels comfortable happens, I would be deeply greatful! Thanks!

But that was basically my week. I hope you all have a great week! I`m so happy to hear about all the blessings that you are all receiving.

Love,

Elder Holland
